How it plays
Who am I in this game?
You’re born into the tribe. Each player is on their own path of self-discovery, but the tribe must also advance for everyone to win.
How do I play?
Take turns deciding whether the tribe will hunt, gather or fortify camp, by drawing cards. Some cards offer opportunities for tribe members to advance, while others bring disasters and monsters!
How do I win?
When the tribe reaches level 6, everyone wins. Work together or the tribe will be lost!

How it works
1. Set up the game
Lay out the game board and shuffle the four decks: Hunt, Gather, Fortify and Sex cards.
2. Be born into the tribe
Roll the Sex Die (female, intersex or male) and draw your starting cards.
3. Hunt, gather or fortify?
On each turn the tribe decides what to do, and the cards decide what happens.
4. Face disasters and monsters together
Some cards help members advance; others bring disasters and monsters the tribe must survive as one.
5. Find your place in the tribe
Every player follows their own path of self-discovery along the way.
6. Reach level 6
When the tribe reaches level 6, everyone wins.

November 2015Propagayda, the MFA thesis game
Propagayda began as Tim’s Master of Fine Arts thesis in Graphic Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design: Design, Gamification, and Usability Affecting Social Change for LGBTQIA People. Using design, gamification and usability principles, it set out to create an interaction that affects social change.
The game was developed and refined over multiple play and usability test sessions, from paper prototype to rough composition to final design. Players took anonymous pre- and post-play assessments, built with suggestions from BoardGameGeek, The Board Game Designers Guild, The Safe Zone Project and TechSmith, to measure what they knew about LGBTQIA people before and after playing.
The finished game used four card decks (Hunt, Gather, Fortify and Sex), one game board, a Sex Die, six player pieces and six 3D-printable Spirit Totems, and was released to download and play under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 license.
